Thank you.
So far, I am not seeing reverse video problem.
For the time being, though, I am noticing that some jobs come out in
duplicates or quadruplicates.
This behavior appears to be intermittent. I tried printing tex
generated pdf files, arxiv generated pdf/ps files, scanned pdf files,
with and without pdf2ps conversion and running through pstops filters.
The only trend I noticed so far is that usually, when I send many jobs
at once, the first in the batch comes out in quadruplets.
It is not crippling, but it is wasting toner.

Just wanted to report furhter on a symptom that printing PDF file from
the archive using acrobat reader to lp4 on scientific linux also has
missing font issue, which can be seen in eqs (2), (3), and (4) of
Scan003.PDF which I attach here.

Matt: please upgrade the firmware in lp4 today and document
the procedure in a tech note. Thanks.

Dear Sridhara
Thanks for the comment. I realize PDF is a path (and I do use pdflatex
all the time) but is not a full solution. One problem is that sometimes,
it fails to render things like the horizontal lines in fractions. (See
e.g. eq. 1.1)
Also, since most pdf files are first converted to ps before going to the
printer, unstable ps is not very desirable.
This might be a linux issue.
This particular output was generated by opening a pdf file
Lattice gauge fields and discrete noncommutative Yang-Mills theory.

The lp4 continues to have problem printing letters in reverse video,
demonstrated in the example of the attached pdf file.
The specific files causing this appears to be postscript files generated
from tex. This is a problem, since majority of papers published in the
physics archive
http://arxiv.org/list/hep-th/new
are in this format.
This has been a problem for some time, and I would like find some
solution (I can handle pre-processing ps files if that is what is
called, though there must be a better solution.)
Also, ps files generated from tex is the format of choice in writing papers.
